Bernard’s tally the difference as North Brunswick blanks West Bladen 1-0

LELAND, N.C. (WWAY) — It took most of the second half, but Scorpions boys soccer eventually scored and held on for a 1-0 home win over West Bladen on Tuesday.
Still without a goal just past the halfway mark of the 2nd, a North Brunswick corner kick from Mason Miller was redirected high into the air. After landing, it bounced off the heads of four players before finding the foot of Zy’Miere Bernard. The sophomore blasted a shot short side and scored the lone goal of the match, giving the Scorpions their sixth straight win.
“It was just a header and I got a touch,” Bernard said. “Then touch out shot. It was just a goal. Felt good. I think we should keep playing as a team. Passing the ball, looking for goals and keep winning. Bring it together, work as a team. It’s not a one player sport, it’s an 11 player sport. We just all worked together to win this game today.”
