Bicyclist seriously injured in crash on Carolina Beach Road

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A 24-year-old woman riding a bicycle was critically injured in a crash Saturday afternoon on Carolina Beach Road, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the crash happened when a vehicle traveling north struck the cyclist as she was crossing the highway from Silva Terra Drive. The driver of the vehicle was not injured.

As of Sunday, the bicyclist was listed in stable condition. Her name has not been released.

Investigators say the bicyclist failed to yield, so no charges will be filed in the crash.
