Bikers collect bicycles for Toys for Tots

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Carolina Coast and the Wilmington Chapters of Harley Davidson raised money to purchase bicycles for toys for tots.

Wal-Mart in porters neck gave the group a discount on the bikes and even threw in a dozen more. In total, the bikers collected 142 children’s bicycles.

Richard Porter, who helped organize the event, says every child deserves to wake up Christmas morning with a present.

“We all started out on two wheels with bicycles and we’ve all got motors on ours now, so this is just a start for them,” said Porter.

The bike clubs will be assembling the bicycles from now until the Toys for Tots event on December 6. The clubs will also be accepting more donations.
