WHITEVILLE, NC (WWAY) — Columbus County Sheriff Bill Rogers is the unofficial winner of the Republican primary for sheriff.

With all 16 precincts reporting, Rogers received 2,258 votes, finishing ahead of Joshua McPherson with 1,709 votes and Ken Elliott with 788 votes. Kevin S. Norris was also on the ballot.

Rogers currently serves as sheriff after being appointed by the Columbus County Board of Commissioners in October 2022 following the suspension of then-Sheriff Jody Greene.

He was later sworn in and has led the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office since that time.

With the primary victory, Rogers secures the Republican nomination. He will not face a Democratic challenger in November.
