Bill Saffo re-elected as Wilmington Mayor for the 18th consecutive year
NEW HANOVER COUNTY (WWAY) — Bill Safo has been re-elected as Mayor of Wilmington for the 18th consecutive year.
At his watch party, he said he is honored to hold this position and is grateful for all of the support.
“Well, I wanted to celebrate this with my family, this is very important to me, I’ve always been family first, our community is like a family, and I just want to just say to all the voters and to the people that have supported me, thank you, I mean, this is a tremendous honor to serve now my tenth term as mayor and it’s been tremendous honor.”
Earlier tonight, one of Safo’s opponents, Billy Craig, said he was proud of himself and his campaign efforts.
“It is what it is, whatever happens happens, I ran a campaign with less than $10,000. I’ve had a lot of good turnout. I mean, I was my own campaign manager, I will say, probably the people that helped me put this together and just pushed information out, I had thousands of campaign managers and I really appreciate them.”
Safo has served the City of Wilmington as Mayor for ten terms in a row.
