Black Lives Matter spokeswoman speaks out about movement
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Black Lives Matter activists gathered in front of the New Hanover County Courthouse Monday night to rally. The rally included prayer, songs and speeches.
Sonya Patrick, a spokeswoman for Black Lives Matter, said they want people to understand the cause and said the movement was never intended to be violent.
“We are here to speak truth to power and we want our law enforcement to be held accountable, we want to be safe when we call law enforcement, and we are not going to let them continue to kill our men, women and children and not be held accountable,” said Patrick.
