Bladen County man charged in fatal DWI crash

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A Bladen County man has been arrested following a crash last month that killed a Lumberton woman.

Patrick Dillon Pendleton, 39, of Bladenboro, is charged with Felony Death by Vehicle, Driving While Impaired, Felony Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Substance, Reckless Driving to Endanger, Unsafe Passing, Exceeding Posted Speed and Unsafe Tires.

The crash happened March 17 on NC 410 near Chadbourn.

According to a report from the NC Highway Patrol, Pendleton was heading north when he passed a vehicle in a no passing zone, and hit a vehicle driven by Savannah Lowery in the oncoming lane head-on. Lowery’s vehicle was then hit by a vehicle traveling behind it.

Lowery died at Columbus Regional Hospital.

Pendleton was arrested on Monday night. He is currently being held without bond.
