BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A Bladen County man has been charged with possessing a weapon of mass destruction.

Last Wednesday, the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office helped the State Department of Probation and Parole with a home search on Upton Place in Saint Paul’s.

According to the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office, felon Kenneth Holmes was on probation for possession of cocaine.

Holmes told investigators there was possibly a gun under the mattress in the back room where he slept.

The 55-year-old was not allowed to have a sawed-off shotgun, which is considered a weapon of mass destruction under North Carolina law.

Holmes was also charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of drug paraphernalia, and maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance.

He was arrested and given no bond.
