Bladen County school bus driver accused of child sex crimes makes court appearance

BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A bus driver charged with multiple sex crimes has made his first court appearance.
David Earl Denkins, 63, of Tar Heel has been charged with two Felony counts of “Taking indecent liberties with a student by school personnel other than a teacher, school administrator, student teacher, school safety officer or coach;” two Felony counts of “Indecent Liberties with a Child;” two Misdemeanor counts of “Sexual Battery;” and two Misdemeanor counts of “Child Abuse.”
Denkins had his bond increased to $2 million secured after his appearance Tuesday.
The Bladen County Sheriff’s Office says several more children are being interviews by an outside agency in connection to the case.
The last child is expected to be interviewed by early May and more charges are possible then.
