Bladen County school bus driver charged with 36 additional sex crimes

BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A Bladen County bus driver accused of sex crimes against children is facing many more charges.

Investigators with Bladen County Sheriff’s office say they have spent numerous hours poring through video footage from David Denkins assigned school bus.

Nine children have come forward with allegations against Denkins, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

He has been charged with the following:

(9) Felony Taking indecent liberties with a student by school personnel other than a teacher, school administrator, student teacher, school safety officer or coach.

(9) Felony Indecent liberties with a child.

(9) Misdemeanor Sexual battery.

(9) Misdemeanor Child abuse.

This is in addition to already charged crimes of 2 Felony counts of “Taking indecent liberties with a student by school personnel other than a teacher, school administrator, student teacher, school safety officer or coach;” 2 Felony counts of “Indecent Liberties with a Child;” 2 Misdemeanor counts of “Sexual Battery;” and 2 Misdemeanor counts of “Child Abuse.”

Denkins had a first appearance on his additional charges Wednesday, where he was given an additional $1,800,000 secured bond, on top of the $2 million he was already facing.

This is still an open investigation.
