Bladen County Schools fire bus driver accused of sexually assaulting students

BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A bus driver has been fired after being charged with multiple sex crimes following an investigation by the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office.
The school system says they were made aware of Denkins’ arrest Monday evening.
On April 10th, the Sheriff’s Office was notified of an incident with a bus driver and a student. Over the past few days, the Sheriff’s Office has received notification from several additional parents stating their children have came forward with similar complaints against the same bus driver.
David Earl Denkins, 63, of Tar Heel has been charged with two felony counts of “Taking indecent liberties with a student by school personnel other than a teacher, school administrator, student teacher, school safety officer or coach;” 2 Felony counts of “Indecent Liberties with a Child;” 2 Misdemeanor counts of “Sexual Battery;” and 2 Misdemeanor counts of “Child Abuse.”
Denkins is currently being held at Bladen County Detention Center under a $1 million secured bond.
This investigation is ongoing and additional charges are expected.
