ELIZABETHTOWN, NC (WWAY) — The Bladen County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a wanted fugitive following a brief chase in Elizabethtown.

Abdul Jabbar Tucker, 39, from Bladenboro, was taken into custody on Monday.

According to a news release, Tucker, who was wanted on felony warrants and had been listed as a fugitive by the Department of Adult Corrections, was spotted by narcotics agents in the area of Gill Street.

The Bladen County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit, along with deputies from the First Squad Patrol Division and officers from the Department of Adult Corrections, went to the home where Tucker was seen.

Investigators say despite multiple commands from law enforcement to surrender, Tucker attempted to run off. However, after a short pursuit, he was apprehended without further incident inside a nearby abandoned home.

Tucker was taken to the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office, where he was served with outstanding warrants for obtaining property by false pretenses and probation violations.

He was also charged as an absconder from the Department of Adult Corrections. Tucker is currently being held at the Bladen County Detention Center on a $40,000 secured bond.
