Bladen Register of Deeds, husband plead out DWI case

BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Bladen County’s Register of Deeds and her husband have disposed of charges against them after a late May traffic stop.

According to the Bladen County Clerk of Court’s office, Beverly Parks was granted a prayer for judgement continued July 10 for possession of an open container. A charge of aiding and abetting DWI against her was dropped, records show.

The clerk’s office says records show Parks’s husband Phillip pleaded guilty July 10 to DWI. Judge Nancy Phillips sentenced Phillip Parks to 12 months unsupervised probation, $540 court costs and a $100 fine. A clerk says the record shows Phillip Parks’s blood alcohol level was 0.15, which is nearly twice the legal limit.

The charges came after deputies pulled the couple over around 1:30 a.m. May 31 as they left Dublin Motor Speedway.

Beverly Parks has served as Bladen County Register of Deeds since 2011.
