Body found inside Tabor City home during fire

TABOR CITY, NC (WWAY) — One person has died following a fire in Columbus County.

Tabor City Fire Department responded Wednesday morning.

The Columbus County Sheriff’s Office says it happened around 8:00 a.m. at 8349 Old Stake Road in Tabor City.

While at the scene, Fire Chief Jeff Fowler discovered a body inside the home. Investigators identified her as Judy L Watts, a resident of the home.

Detectives and the Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating how the fire started and the victim’s cause of death.
