Body of missing man found by fisherman in Neuse River

NEW BERN, NC (AP) – Authorities in Craven County say the body of a man reported missing has been found in the Neuse River.

Local media sources say firemen from the Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department and Craven County Emergency Services recovered the body of 38-year-old Ashley David Vest of New Bern on Friday. The New Bern Police Department said the body was found at 10 a.m.

Vest was last seen and reported missing Wednesday. The U.S. Coast Guard reported that a fisherman found Vest’s body in the water.

The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission is investigating the incident.
