Body of missing man found in Oak Island pond

OAK ISLAND, NC (WWAY) — The body of a missing man was found Wednesday afternoon in Oak Island.

A drone operator for the Town of Oak Island made the discovery in a small pond off of E.F. Middleton Boulevard just northwest of the Swain’s Cut Bridge.

The Oak Island Police Department confirmed the remains to be that of 35-year-old Craig Chamberlain. Chamberlain was reported missing on February 27, after being last seen leaving his home on February 19 riding a black Cannondale mountain bike.

Assistance at the scene was provided by the Oak Island Fire Department and Oak Island Water Rescue.
