Body of missing swimmer found in surf on Pawleys Island

PAWLEYS ISLAND, SC (WPDE) — Rescue crews in Pawleys Island have found a body in the surf not too far from where they were originally dispatched.

Midway Fire Rescue Chief, Doug Eggiman, says first responders were dispatched to 766 Spring in Pawleys Island around 4:15 Saturday afternoon, to the area with rough water conditions.

For several hours, crews were searching for a missing swimmer after they say two other swimmers needed to be rescued from the water.

Eggiman says a Pawleys Island Police officer was able to get 2 of the swimmers to the shore, and one swimmer went under.
