Boiling Spring Lakes honors five police officers who responded to Southport shooting

BOILING SPRING LAKES, NC (WWAY) — The City of Boiling Spring Lakes honored five police officers during their commissioner’s meeting Tuesday night. 

The officers responded to the deadly mass shooting in Southport back in September. 

Tuesday night, Boiling Spring Lakes Police Chief Kevin Smith presented Meritorious Conduct Awards to Sergeant Kyle Pszczultkoski, Corporal Robert Osbourne, Master Police Officer Robert Tursi, Officer Eric Gonzalez and Detective John Weaver.  

Southport Police Chief Todd Coring says officers from Boiling Spring Lakes reached the scene 5 minutes after dispatch received the first call reporting shots fired. 

Three people were killed, and several others were injured in the shooting.
