Boys and Girls Clubs of Southeastern North Carolina announce guest speakers for 2026 Blue Door Gala

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — On Friday, Boys and Girls Clubs of Southeastern North Carolina announced two guest speakers for the 2026 Blue Door Gala taking place in the spring.
University of North Carolina basketball legends Phil Ford and Tyler Hansbrough will speak at the gala taking place on April 25 at 5:20 p.m. at the Wilmington Convention Center.
The gala is one of the organization’s premier fundraising events.
Ford led the Tar Heels in the late 1970s earning multiple All-American honors, the John R. Wooden Award, and later being named NBA Rookie of the Year. He was inducted into the North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame in 1991.
Hansbrough led the Tar Heels to a National Championship in 2009 and earned the Wooden Award and National Player of the Year honors in 2008.
“The Blue Door Gala is about opening doors of opportunity for kids in our community,” said Kim Schoeffler, Chief Development Officer “Having Phil Ford and Tyler Hansbrough with us—two individuals who exemplify excellence, discipline, and character—adds incredible meaning to this evening.”
Proceeds from the event directly support Boys and Girls Clubs of Southeastern North Carolina.
