Brandy Myers Memorial Playground closed for repair work

CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) — The Brandy Myers Memorial Playground in Carolina Beach is closed for repair work.
Crews are checking for any loose screws or bolts and making sure all the equipment is working properly.
The two-month-old playground is expected to reopen by 10:00 a.m. Thursday.
Funding for the project came from a donation by NASCAR Crew Member Danny “Chocolate” Myers and his wife Caron as a memorial to Caron’s daughter Brandy, who died from leukemia in 1987.
Brandy and her family were pivotal in establishing the National Bone Marrow Transplant Registry, which has saved the lives of more than 950,000 people.
