(From Scott Braswell)
I have put this decision off until what I feel is the moment a decision has to be made in the best interest of the Hoggard Football program. I am stepping down as head football coach at Hoggard High School, but hope to continue in my role as Athletic Director. I have been a little frustrated with the pace of my physical recovery and still have issues with my stamina, my energy, and my mobility. To coach again, I wanted to be able to coach with the same level of intensity that I have always brought to the field. I had hoped by waiting to Spring Break I might enjoy more physical recovery.
I have loved coaching football at Hoggard High School, and I know a lot of Hoggard has loved me back. For this, I will always be thankful. These past 18 years have been the greatest of my professional career and life. As Athletic Director, I look forward to helping the new head coach get situated and take over leadership of the program. We have a young team coming back so this is a good time for a new coach to put his stamp on the program. I also look forward to assisting the baseball program with their facility upgrades and hope to be involved in the discussions on the design of our new gym. Most of all, I look forward to another year of interacting with all the coaches and student athletes at Hoggard High School.
I owe special thanks to all the players, parents, and assistant coaches who have worked so hard over the last 18 years to build a special football program. I am very proud of the success we have had on the field, and I am especially proud of our efforts to positively impact young people. Thanks, also, to all the administrators and outstanding faculty members who have been so supportive of me and our football program. As Athletic Director, I look forward to continuing our commitment to excellence in the classrooms and on the fields and courts of competition.
Thanks,
Scott
