Brian Chism unofficially wins Republican primary for Brunswick County sheriff

BOLIVIA, NC (WWAY) — Incumbent Brian Chism is the unofficial winner of the Republican primary for Brunswick County sheriff, according to preliminary election results Tuesday night.
Unofficial returns show Chism finishing with 13,996 votes to secure the Republican nomination. He faced challenger Tim Daniels, who brought in 6260 votes.
Chism was first appointed by the Board of Commissioners to serve as Sheriff of Brunswick County in 2023, upon the retirement of former Sheriff John Ingram.
No Democrat filed to run in the race, meaning the winner of the Republican primary is expected to become the next sheriff following the November general election.
