Broken hand sidelines E.J. Jenkins

CERRO GORDO, NC (WWAY) — The Texas Rangers drafted former West Columbus baseball standout E.J. Jenkins in the second round of the 2015 MLB Draft. Everything’s been great for Jenkins baseball-wise since his selection until earlier this month. Jenkins broke his right hand during batting practice in the Dominican Republic.

E.J. Jenkins underwent surgery in Texas earlier this week. The speedy outfielder is expected to be ready for spring training in two more months.

Jenkins had plans to attend UNCW and play for baseball for the Seahawks until the Rangers drafted him in June.
