BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Brunswick Beer Xchange is hosting a Community Cookout and First Responder Appreciation Day in conjunction with a fundraising event to benefit a 9-11 memorial.

It takes place at Sunday, August 24th from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The business says the supports the Ringfinnan Memorial Garden of Remembrance, located in  Kinsale, Ireland, the hometown of Father Mychel Judge, the FDNY Chaplain and the first victim of the attacks.

Last year, one of their customers, Gerry Armitrano, a retired member of the FDNY, was able to obtain a piece of steel from the Trade Center.  He, along with members of the FDNY and FDNY Emerald Society brought the steel to Ireland to build a monument at the garden. He asked if they could help raise funds for the dedication  of the steel and the upkeep of the Garden.  Additional information can be found online at https://www.idonate.ie/cause/ringfinnan
