Brunswick Beer Xchange hosts chili cookoff

LELAND, NC (WWAY) — This weekend, Brunswick Beer Xchange hosted a chili cookoff, bringing together local cooks for some friendly competition—all for a good cause.

Participants entered their best chili recipes, with entry fees benefiting the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina.

The event was sponsored by What the Grill, which provided the grand prize.

Owner Donna Ruggiero says the cold weather made chili the perfect choice for the event.

“I mean, who doesn’t love chili? And after a snowstorm, what could be better? We’re just here to have a community fundraiser to raise money and awareness.”

Ruggiero also shared hopes for future events, benefiting various charities in the area.
