Brunswick Co. deputy involved in crash undergoes surgery
NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A Brunswick County Sheriff’s deputy involved in a crash last night is still in the hospital after undergoing surgery today.
Officials confirm the surgery was related to a leg injury.
The crash happened in New Hanover County on 421 near the Isabel Holmes bridge.
Investigator Trooper Andrew Smith says the deputy and a sheriff’s office volunteer were transporting two people to a facility outside of the county.
The Highway Patrol says a driver turned left in front of the deputy and the two collided.
No word on the current condition of the other passengers.
The highway patrol cited the driver of the other vehicle with failure to yield.
