Brunswick Community College Health Sciences Dept. undergoing an expansion
BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Brunswick Community College is expanding. Renovations to the college’s Health Sciences Building in Bolivia are underway.
A college spokesperson said the work is needed to accommodate growing numbers of students and faculty.
$400,000 of funding for the project is coming from the high-cost healthcare workforce programs grant.
Molly Curry is the Dean of Health Sciences at Brunswick Community College. She said the grant and expansion are needed for students’ success.
“The health care environment changes all the time. New technologies, new equipment, new standards, so we do our very best to ensure that our students are exposed to all of that before they go out and they get their first job,” Curry said.
Money from the grant is also helping the college pay for equipment that simulates real life patient care.
Work is expected to be completed just before the fall semester starts.
