BOLIVIA, NC. — The Brunswick Community College (BCC) Men’s Basketball team has secured its fourth NJCAA Region 10 Championship title, earning an automatic bid to the NJCAA Division I National Tournament. The Dolphins claimed victory over rival Cape Fear Community College in a high-intensity championship matchup on Saturday, winning 102-86 in Hickory, NC.
After a back-and-forth first half, the game was tied at 39 before a late steal and layup gave BCC the edge heading into halftime. The top-seeded and regular-season champion Dolphins then took control in the second half, using a strong defensive effort to fuel their transition offense, scoring 63 points to seal the win.
BCC’s leading scorers included Tyrone Barbee and Armani Henderson, each with 22 points, followed by Cam Oates (18), Landon King (17), and Derrick Green (13). The win secured the Dolphins’ place in the NJCAA Division I National Tournament, held March 22-29 in Hutchinson, KS.
The Dolphins, now 28-4 on the season, will face Barton County Community College (Great Bend, KS) in the tournament’s first round on Sunday, March 23, at 12 PM CST. The 24-team, single-elimination tournament will determine the NJCAA Division I National Champion, with all games broadcast on ESPN+.
This marks the Dolphins’ third trip to the National Tournament, with their last appearance in 2021.
