Brunswick Community College to host free community Water Safety Day

BOLIVIA, NC (WWAY) — Brunswick Community College invites families and caregivers to attend Water Safety Day next month.
This free, family-friendly event is designed to raise awareness about water safety and equip attendees with the knowledge and tools needed to prevent drowning and water-related accidents.
It will take place on Friday, May 16th from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Odell Williamson Auditorium parking lot.
Water Safety Day Highlights Include:
- Life-Saving Demonstrations – Learn Hands-Only CPR, basic rescue techniques, and safe pool practices.
- Drowning Prevention Tips – Discover how to stay safe in pools, open water, and at the beach.
- Lifejacket Education & Fittings – Provided by The Jack Helbig Memorial Foundation.
- Kid-Friendly Activities – Interactive games and lessons that teach children key water safety principles in a fun way.
- Emergency Equipment Demos – See water rescue vehicles and crafts used by Brunswick County Emergency Services
- Free Resources – Take home water safety guides, swim lesson information, and educational materials.
The event is free to the public.
