BRUNSWICK COUNTY (WWAY) — While Thanksgiving is drawing closer and closer, so too is Christmas, and one group of bikers went on a ride to make sure all kids have presents under the tree this year.

More than a dozen bikers traveled from Fair Bluff Methodist Church to the Harley Davidson store in Shallotte and back as part of the first ever Toys For Tots ride on Saturday.

Along with a number of toys that were donated, the ride raised more than $1,100.

Sandy Davis was one of the riders and says she was surprised to see more bikers participate in the event than she expected.

“People do care and these folks let us know this morning they care about showing up. And because they showed up, its a blessing. I am just forever grateful to them and like I said, its not, its our first one but it won’t be our last one and every year, I think its going to grow and grow and grow,” Davis said.

If you missed this event, don’t worry — there’s a similar one next month. The Rivertown Riders are hosting the 31st annual Brunswick County Toy Run on Dec. 9. That ride starts at Brunswick Island Baptist Church and ends at Walmart, where bikers will help children pick out toys for the holidays.
