Brunswick County Community Foundation awards more than $8,500 in grants

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The Brunswick County Community Foundation has awarded $8,660 in grants to nine organizations supporting the local community.

“Supporting local nonprofits and community organizations is essential for vibrant communities,” said Moses Stanley, advisory board president of the Brunswick County Community Foundation. “Permanent philanthropy and impactful grants drive meaningful change.” 

Funds for 2025 grants came from BCCF’s community grantmaking fund and the U.S. Open King Mackerel Tournament Fund. Each year, BCCF’s advisory board uses dollars from its endowment funds to make grants to eligible local organizations, including nonprofits, local governments, schools and churches. 

The board of advisors granted: 

  • $1,000 to Brunswick County Habitat for Humanity for Highland Hills
  • $1,000 to Brunswick County Literacy Council, Inc. for Money Mentor: financial wellness program
  • $1,000 to Brunswick Family Assistance Agency, Inc. (BFA) for general operating support
  • $1,000 to The Carousel Center for helping child-abuse victims heal
  • $1,000 to Diaper Bank of NC for meeting diaper need for Brunswick low-income families
  • $1,000 to Going Beyond the Pink for care bags for breast cancer patients in Brunswick County
  • $660 to Prevent Blindness North Carolina for Brunswick County vision screening program
  • $1,000 to South Brunswick Interchurch Council for assistance with food-insufficient families in Brunswick County
  • $1,000 to Suds of Love Truck for general operating support
