Brunswick County Habitat for Humanity breaks ground on new home in Leland

BRUNSWICK COUNTY (WWAY) — Brunswick County Habitat for Humanity held a groundbreaking ceremony Thursday for another home in a new community.

Lina Casanova broke ground with her Habitat for Humanity mentor, Joseph Solis, for her new home to be built within a Habitat for Humanity community in Leland.

The new house will be one of 10 in the subdivision and will also have a common area, complete with a basketball court and a gazebo.

This is the fifth groundbreaking for the new subdivision on Highland Hills Drive.

Casanova is a single mother and is grateful for this opportunity.

“This is my first time applying for a, the opportunity to be a homeowner, and I’m very excited, I’m very thankful, and a great blessing for me and my son. This has been a real blessing, and I thank everyone from Habitat for Humanity,” said Casanova.

Brunswick County Habitat for Humanity has built 98-plus homes and is working on adding more to the new subdivision.
