Brunswick County K9 Oti hangs up his badge after years of service

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office said K9 Oti officially retired after years of service.
Prior to retiring, he had one last successful track. His final call was a crash on Brick Landing Road. Oti picked up the scent from a shoe found on the driver’s floorboard and using the absorption method with a gauze pad taken from the gear shifter.
Oti tracked behind two houses, over large brush piles, and through mud making his way to a church parking lot. Oti pulled harder and the suspect turned the corner.
The sheriff’s office said commands were given and the suspect was arrested.
Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office said in a social media post, “Thank you, Oti, for every mile you tracked, every shift you worked, and every person you helped bring home safely. Enjoy the well-earned naps, treats, and life as a spoiled retiree. You’ve earned it, good boy.”
They also added that Oti was always focused, fearless, and faithful.
