Brunswick County planning board votes down Ash proposed development

ASH, N.C. (WWAY) — On Monday night, the Brunswick County Planning Board voted against a controversial and potentially massive development near the community of Ash.

The proposed “Ashton Farms Development” would have brought nearly three-thousand housing units to the area.

There were tensions on both sides of the issue, with emotions boiling over at a community meeting back in September over the proposal.

Monday night’s decision by the board means that the project is, effectively, dead.

Although, the developer can still submit a new plan to the board in the future, if they choose to do so.
