Brunswick County School Board approves bond resolution
BOLIVIA, NC (WWAY) — The Brunswick County Board of Education approved a bond resolution 5-0 Tuesday night, according to a Brunswick County Schools spokeswoman.
Jessica Swencki said it was a public endorsement of members’ intention to ask the Brunswick County Commission to put the bond on the November 2016 ballot.
Board of Education members said they hope to ready schools for a growing population with the money that would come from the bond.
Swencki said, originally, board members estimated the bond would be $173 million. They amended the resolution Tuesday, though, to remove that amount in case estimates come in lower than expected.
However, Swencki added that new project estimates for priorities will start immediately.
