Brunswick County School Board approves location for new elementary school

BOLIVIA, NC (WWAY) — The Brunswick County School Board held a special meeting to discuss the potential development of a new elementary school on Monday and now says they will pursue building a school at the Jackey’s Creek location near the Leland Town Center.

The board has entered into purchase agreements for property at two different sites with the hopes of building two new schools within the next 10 years.

The plan is to have one school open by the start of the 2028 school year, which will house around 750 students from pre-k through 5th grade.

Also approved was a budget of $314,000 to enter into a contract with an architect to begin master planning for the site, as well as an amendment to the current purchase agreement for the property.
