BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY NEWS) — The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office unveiled a lasting tribute Thursday.

Sheriff Brian Chism and others spoke during the ceremony in front of the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office.

The Brunswick County Law Enforcement Memorial is in honor of the men and women who died in the line of duty.

On one side are the names of Sheriff J Stanland who died in 1908, Deputy I Skipper who died in 1914, and Deputy J Brandon Gore who died in 2021.

The Sheriff’s Office says the memorial will serve as a reminder to the honor, courage, and sacrifice of the county’s fallen heroes.

The ceremony included the Presentation of the Colors, the National Anthem, the History of Police Officer Memorial Week, the History of Line of Duty Deaths, a reading of the names of fallen officers, and ‘Amazing Grace’ played on the bagpipes by Dennis Ryan.

The memorial is located at 70 Stamp Act Drive Northeast in Bolivia.
