Brunswick County woman receives dream home from Habitat for Humanity

BOILING SPRING LAKES, NC (WWAY) — A woman in Brunswick County cut the ribbon on the house of her dreams Thursday.

Kimberly Edgecomb attended a dedication ceremony for her new home in Boiling Spring Lakes Thursday afternoon.

The home, which was built specifically for Edgecomb, was made possible through Brunswick County Habitat for Humanity’s Home Ownership Program.

The program takes around 18 months for those hoping to own a home, but who can’t afford to do it alone.

Edgecomb has minor mobility issues, so habitat’s home builders made the house completely ADA accessible.

“I’ve worked all my life, I’ve never owned my own home or anything else and you know what? They made this possible, which is incredible,” Edgecomb said.

At the ceremony, Edgecomb also received several gifts from area nonprofits including a handmade quilt and an American flag for her porch.
