BURGAW, NC (StarNewOnline.com) — A Burgaw man was shot Monday afternoon during a confrontation with his neighbor, Burgaw Police Chief Montrina Sutton said.
Officers responded to a call at 312 Campbell St. about 4:30 p.m. where an unidentified man said he'd been shot after approaching his neighbor about an earlier incident, Sutton said. During that confrontation, the chief added, there was a forced entry and shots were fired.
Police carried on a dialogue with Ernest Edyang, the alleged shooter, eventually convincing him to surrender. When Edyang opened the door, though, his pit bull came out of the house and acted aggressively toward officers and its owner, Sutton said.
