Burgwin Wright House hosts annual White Elephant Yard Sale
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY)– The Burgwin-wright House held their White Elephant Yard Sale on Saturday.
The yard sale hosts hundreds of items from glassware and silverware to antique furniture and paintings. People donated the items throughout the year for the museum to sell.
Assistant Museum Director, Hunter Ingram, says the proceeds from the event go to the preservation of the museum.
“It all goes back to the preservation of the house. We were doing restoration work this week right here on the western side of the home, and throughout the year we have to do projects to keep Wilmington’s oldest and largest house going,” said Ingram.
Preservation is essential for the structure. Built in 1770, the home is more than two hundred and fifty years old.
