Burgwin-Wright House hosting annual diaper drive for families in need

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Burgwin-Wright House and Gardens is hosting its annual Diaper Drive this March, benefitting the Diaper Bank of North Carolina.
During the entire month of March, local residents are encouraged to donate diapers, packaged baby wipes, adult incontinence products, formula and other hygiene items.
Last year’s diaper drive collected 4,320 children’s diapers, 1,668 adult incontinence products, 4,488 wipes, 600 feminine hygiene products, 8 containers of formula, 4 packs of leggings, 2 packs of underwear, 4 tubes of rash cream and $285 in monetary donations.
“Each year’s diaper drive proves that this community can band together and help those who don’t always have access to essential needs like diapers,” museum director Christine Lamberton said. “With costs rising for everything, we hope that people will remember that diapers are not a right but a privilege, to which not everyone has access. We encourage people to give what they can so some of our local neighbors will be able to breathe a little easier knowing their loved ones will be taken care of.”
All those who donate to the Diaper Drive between March 1-31 will be entered into a raffle to win a gift basket of products donated by Trader Joe’s.
The Diaper Drive accepts opened and unopened packs of diapers and pull-ups for children and adults. Baby wipes, pantyliners, diaper cream and formula are also accepted, but must be brand new and unopened. Tab or diaper-style adult products are not accepted at this time.
