Burn ban lifted for Brunswick County

BOLIVIA, NC (WWAY) — The Brunswick County Fire Marshal’s Office will life a burn ban effective Monday at 5 p.m.
The lift is on all open burning within 100 feet of an occupied structure for the unincorporated areas within the county.
The burn ban was originally issued Thursday due to unfavorable weather conditions forecasted for the area.
The ban did not apply to any open burning permits issued by the North Carolina Forest Service or the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality.
The fire marshal’s office will continue to monitor fire weather metrics to determine if there is an increased risk.
Fire Marshal Andrew Thompson appreciates the cooperation of community members while the burn ban was in effect.
They also urge the public to stay proactive, be vigilant and use caution when burning outdoors.
