OAK ISLAND, NC (WWAY) — The Town of Oak Island has issued a temporary burn ban for all areas within the Town limits, coinciding with the burn ban issued by Brunswick County for all unincorporated areas effective as of 5:00 PM on Thursday, October 23.

This ban prohibits all burning within 100 feet of any structure, and is in response to weather forecast models which indicate conditions that are not favorable to open burning, particularly due to increasing wind and fire danger risks in the weekend ahead.

The burn ban does not apply to any open burning permits issued by the North Carolina Forest Service or permitted fireworks displays.

For questions about the burn ban, contact the Brunswick County Fire Marshal’s Office at 910.253.2041 or contact the Oak Island Fire Department at 910-278-1000 or through the Department Contact Form.

Visit Brunswick County’s Burn Ban / Open Burning webpage for more information about local burn bans and open burning regulations.
