California man arrested, New Hanover County teen found safe on bus headed to LA

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A California man has been arrested on multiple charges, including statutory rape and kidnapping, after a missing 15-year-old girl from New Hanover County was located on a Greyhound bus en route to Los Angeles, according to the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office.
Detectives began investigating the case on Feb. 4, after the teen’s parents reported her missing. They last saw her on Feb. 3, deputies said.
During the investigation, detectives learned the girl had met up with a man at a hotel on Jan. 31. Authorities identified the suspect as Cameron Jacob Blondeel-Timmerman, 21, of Los Angeles.
Further investigation revealed that Blondeel-Timmerman had returned home to California, and the juvenile boarded a Greyhound bus on Feb. 4, attempting to travel to Los Angeles, the sheriff’s office said.
Detectives coordinated with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, where deputies intercepted the girl during a stop in El Paso, Texas. She was taken into custody and has since been reunited with her parents.
Blondeel-Timmerman was arrested by the Los Angeles Police Department and later extradited to North Carolina. He is currently being held in the New Hanover County Detention Facility without bond.
Charges Against Blondeel-Timmerman include two counts of statutory rape of a child, two counts of first-degree kidnapping, two counts of indecent liberties with a minor, and one count of abduction of a child.
