Call sparks brief lockdown at Pine Valley Elementary

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Pine Valley Elementary School in Wilmington was put under a brief lockdown this morning after a threatening call.

According to posts to the Twitter from New Hanover County Schools, Pine Valley was locked down for about 30 minutes after the call shortly after 10 a.m., and that the principal would do a Connect 5 call to all parents to explain the situation.

New Hanover County Sheriff’s spokesman Lt. Jerry Brewer says officers went to the school after the staff activated a panic alarm following the call. Officers investigated, but found nothing wrong.
