Cameron Art Museum unveils quilt exhibition ‘The Work of Their Hands’
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A new exhibit at the Cameron Art Museum showcases the medium of quilt making and its place in American history.
It’s called “The Work of Their Hands.” The exhibit displays quilts dating back to the mid-1800’s and more contemporary pieces from around the country, showing how quilt making has evolved over centuries.
Cameron Art Museum Registrar Susan Wisnant says quilting has long been a staple of American culture.
“Quilts are one of the most beloved art forms in America,” Wisnant said. “They really may have started out as bed coverings, but they’ve really evolved into so much more.”
The exhibit will be on display at the museum until Oct. 20, 2024.
