Camp Lejeune plans big July 4th celebration
CAMP LEJEUNE, NC (WWAY) — This year Cape Lejeune is celebrating two milestones for our country.
Base officials say they will be honoring both America turning 240 and the base’s 75th Anniversary. The main gate opens the the public at 3pm and the event gates open at 4pm.
The festivities will be on the W.P.T. Hill Field and will inlcude musical performances by the 2nd Marine Division Rock Band and North Carolina native Kellie Pickler.
Admission is free, lawn chairs can be brought in but no pets are allowed.
Here are addition rules per base spokesperson:
As a reminder, the following items are not allowed in your vehicle, and
guests possessing these items will be denied access to the base.
. No weapons (to include concealed handgun permit holders)
. No personal fireworks, explosives or pyrotechnics
. No open containers of alcohol
. No illegal or illicit drugs or drug paraphernalia
For your protection, security checkpoints will be at the entrance to the
field and bags (to include backpacks, purses and coolers) will be searched.
The following items are not allowed into the event site, and guests
possessing these items will have these items confiscated and may be escorted
off of the base.
. No personal fireworks or sparklers
. No outside alcohol
. No personal grills
. No weapons (to include knives)
. No glass containers
. No pets will be allowed on the field
