Cape Crooners spread holiday joy hall to hall at local nursing home

NEW HANOVER COUNTY (WWAY) — The Cape Crooners pass hall to hall around Trinity Grove nursing home to spread a little bit of Christmas cheer to the resident seniors.

Jim Bader is the tenor for the quartet.

“I like seeing the reactions on the seniors and so I like bringing joy to their days so it’s really rewarding,” said Bader.

The newest member of the group, Micheal Stockman, says he loves how the residents light up when they sing.

“It’s great to see the older people who are brought back in their minds to a song they knew, or heard, or had a memory associated with it,” said Stockman.

Lead Bryan Hughes and bass Doug Kreitz say that this quartet has brought them together to create friendship and share joy doing what they all love together.

“Getting to hang out with those guys and not only make great music but just getting to be with great people,” said Hughes.

“This group was so great, so welcoming, so easy to sing with, so enjoyable, there was a lot of fun,” said Kreitz.

The Crooners have a program called Ho-Ho — “Helping Others Help Others” — where for any booked event, they will spend an hour at another assisted living facility on their behalf.
