Cape Fear Fair & Expo kicks off with some new features
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Cape Fear Fair & Expo starts tomorrow, and organizers said this year is bigger and better than ever.
“We’ve been on almost all the rides,” said Rebekah Pace, who showed up when the gates opened on the first night. “It’s been so much fun. Like that ride over there, the fireball, that ride is … Woah … It’s awesome.”
This year students from New Hanover County middle and high schools will put on an interactive collaborative mural painting showcase to highlight their artistic sides. There will also be a farmers market so you can get some fruits and veggies after chowing down on a funnel cake.
“This year we’ve incorporated a Farmer’s Market so it’s going to be more of an interactive display instead of a static display. We want to help support the local farmers in our community and so this is another avenue for us to be able to do that,” said board member David Barkley.
There won’t be any birds at the fair this year due to Avian Flu, but fear not. There will still be poultry competitions based on photo submissions.
Organizers say there are also some new rides and other features on the midway along with new food stands.
The Cape Fear Fair & Expo runs through Nov. 8.
