Cape Fear Garden Club distributes $70K to New Hanover Co. non-profits

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY-TV) — The Cape Fear Garden Club distributed nearly $70,000 to New Hanover County non-profits on Wednesday.

The funds were given to organizations that help with the beautification, conservation, or education of the area. These funds were given from the Azalea Garden Tour and distributed at Cape Fear Country Club

Bonnie Mitchell, the education coordinator for the North Carolina Coastal Federal said their nonprofit is grateful for the partial grant they received.

“All of these different organizations are getting this funding to be able to plant native plants and have green infrastructure that’s going to be absorbing and filtering storm water runoff,” Mitchell said. “It’s so beautiful to see”

The North Carolina Coastal Federation received nearly $2,000 from the $70,000 total and those funds will be toward their coastal education efforts.
